On ‘focus’

Check out my boy! I’ve taken to running with him in the mornings, down to my writing spot. Here he’s intently waiting for a bird to fly low enough to be caught… willing him down with that stare, he hopes.

Unsurprisingly, the bird didn’t succumb. Not for lack of trying on my dog’s part though 🙂

Have a ‘focused’ week yourself, dear Reader!

On toe rings

It was a couple of years ago that I bought my first anklet. Several months later, I bought myself a toe ring. It was mid-December 2018, and the jeweller has discounted it from $80 down to $10.

How could I refuse? So I didn’t, and was exceedingly happy with my purchase… right up until it broke, 8 months later.

So I’ve been on the hunt for a replacement. Stronger, sturdier… but still a bargain.

A few weeks ago, I stopped into a City Beach store on the Gold Coast. And lo and behold: not just one toe-ring but three! For $9.99! Yeh, yeh. Not the ‘real thing’ – but who cares!

I bought them and was the proud wearer of a toe ring again… and when the inevitable happened (even before its first outing, I’m sad to report) it wasn’t as devastating a loss as previously. It’s the pretty ‘loveheart’ ring at the bottom of the photo 🙁

So, that’s my story for the week. How about you, dear Reader? Have a jewelry story to share?

And have a fantastic week!

Six weeks ago or thereabouts, I posted how ecstatic I was that the ‘human encroachment’ into my favourite writing place had been dismantled and removed. The beauty of the natural environment would get the opportunity to restore itself! I was so happy!

I guess it wasn’t destined to last. This was what greeted me the other day:

Sigh.

Here’s hoping you have a more successful week, retaining the beauty you’re wishing for in your life, dear Reader.

Meeting my bestie for breakfast the other week: she laughed at the table I chose. I didn’t realise why, at first.

Those poor invisible people. What do you think they had done? To deserve exclusion out into the drizzly weather like that 🙁

Have a laugh-filled week yourself, dear Reader!

A friend convinced me to roller-skate with her recently. Haven’t done *that* in more decades than I care to remember! It was rather confronting…

but I managed to stay upright for the entire session (almost 2 hours!) and I was immensely proud of myself for such an accomplishment. Perhaps it was the lucky orange laces?

Anyway, have a accomplish-ing week yourself, dear Reader!

I’d been saddened over the last couple of years at noticing human encroachment (ie litter and worse) at my favourite writing spot. I’d even given up going there… for months.

Imagine my surprise when this greeted me the other day:

Evidence of humanity’s more disgusting habits: gone!

I like it when things go well.

Have a beautiful week yourself, dear Reader!

I noticed at dawn the other day, that the edges of the cloud formation on the horizon mirrored the contours of the land. Check it out 🙂

I wonder if this happens all the time, and I’ve only just noticed? I’ll have to google it…

Anyway, have a notice-able week yourself, dear Reader!

September’s nearing her end… meaning that with October just around the corner, those roadworks that hold me up on a daily basis are nearly complete, yes?

Ummm, no. Last week’s roadside greeting:

Le sigh.

Have a more time-ly week yourself, dear Reader!

More about me Random thoughts teaching Work

And… it’s Book Week! Biggest week of my work-year, now I’m Teacher Librarian and not Head of Middle School.

At my new school, the Year 12s pick the theme for themselves and the staff. This year: minions.

Staff were allocated roles from the Despicable Me movies. Together with the Head of Senior School, we could both be the evil character, Dr Nefario.

Never one to share nicely with others, and noticing a second baddie unallocated, I graciously stepped aside and let my colleague wear the white lab coat and black lab gloves, and chose slinky long gloves and black high heels for myself.

Scarlett Overkill – here I come!

Wish me luck. (We all know how weak my ankles are…!)

And have a dressed-up-week yourself, dear Reader!
