the powers of sleep (#blogJune 5)

I’m feeling more human again, thanks to some massive numbers of hours asleep over the past few nights. I think it’s four nights in a row now, I’ve had around seven+ hours – consecutive, that is! – which is absolutely unheard of, for me. Well, so unusual that it is literally years since it’s been that many. Maybe when Mr 5 was around 2? And even then, I don’t ever remember getting that many nights in a row! So that’s a little crazy! Maybe it’s because I’m 40 now. Maybe it’s because I’ve been just so sick lately, my body really *needed* to catch up.

Whatever the reason, I quite like it! Here’s hoping tonight makes night number 5?! πŸ™‚

wow – where did *that* go? (#blogJune4)

So my last blog post was day #3 of blogJune. And today’s the 16th, so that’s around two weeks that I’ve lost, yeh? Wow. That went quick!

I remember I was busy with finishing that assignment, and then doing all my reporting for school. And then I got sick. Very sick. I held out until my birthday – yup, I turned 40 in there too somewhere – and then crashed badly. The sickest I’ve been in years! Miss 9 also got sick, which involved a just-past-midnight trip to the local hospital to get an ear infection diagnosed. Silver lining though: the antibiotics bottle was free πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

So I’m still ill, but on the mend now. Breathing again without it hurting too much, and regaining some semblance of a voice, which is good. But I have 17 classes of kids and 4 rehearsals to run between now and Friday midday, so here’s praying that my voice makes it through to the weekend with me!

Anyway, sorry #blogJune for being so absent. It was the best I could do! And maybe I’ll see you tomorrow?

Gearing up to be a biggie. Again. #blogJune3

It’s 3.27am. The house is quiet – and fairly warm, which is nice, considering it’s the first week of winter. To my right, the glow of last night’s fire is lighting up the legs of the dining table and chairs as some more wood catches and the metal surrounds click, heating up. I’m wide awake. One of those sudden wake-up-calls, where you know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you’ll never get back to sleep again, so it’s pointless staying in bed. Especially when you’ve got a mountain-load of things to do. Which may (or may not) be the reason which woke you in the first place.

So. Today is Tuesday, although it feels like a Wednesday because I was at school yesterday – unusual for me; Monday is normally my ‘work from home’ day. (Ha! More like “cram an impossible amount of work in between the hours of 8.30 and 3.30, more like! Been there, mums of young ones?!) but due to this Friday being a school-nominated student free day, I swapped my timetable around (childcare costs are just ridiculous, in my humble opinion) and that has led to my being all out-of-whack. I’ll probably get to school later today and teach the wrong classes all day. Which would be sad – Tuesdays is the day I get to teach Miss 6’s class and Mr 5’s class, so it’s up there as one of the two favourite days of my working week. (Thursday, where I teach Miss 9’s class, is the other).

Tuesday. Teach triple Year 1, triple Prep, then violin this evening. Finish (ha! yeah right!) that assignment that’s due. Think about finishing (Ha! Again) my reporting for school – I think that’s also due this Thursday. Hoo boy. Big day.

I guess I should probably start on some of that now. Wish me luck, dear reader!

busier than expected #blogJune2

so today was pretty big. a 5-ish start (pretty late for me, actually) but a vomit episode in there by Mr 5 (why oh WHY is it the first week of June when my kids decide to vomit?!! Honestly!!!!) and a quick save by Mum meant that the early morning wasn’t *as* bad as it could have been – but boy oh boy it just didn’t stop from there. I ran. (Well, fast walked, if I’m being literal) ALL day. Non stop. And we’re at 10 to 10pm and I get to blog. Then brush my teeth and then – maybe, please Lord?! – sleep. Which would be awesome.

See you tomorrow!

#blogjune Life

Procrastination can be a wonderful thing?!

So I’m assignmenting at the moment. A pretty huge one, due Tuesday of next week, but apparently I’m now going away for the whole of next weekend (read: leave Friday midday, return home Monday afternoon) so that means that said assignment will need to be in by Thursday of this week. And seeing as it’s currently 9.07pm on the Sunday before, that’s in just four days. Almost countable in hours. Arrgghhh!!!

And as I was busy rushing between emails and Word docs and Facebook and Blackboard and YouTube and several other things, I noticed a notification disappear off the side of my screen. As in, it had been there but I hadn’t noticed it til it disappeared. A vague feeling that it was blue and white made me think it might have been a tweet – cue checking of twitter for the first time in probably a month. Nothing jumps out – but then I notice tweets in my stream with the hashtag #blogJune. “Oh crap! That’s today?!!!” Ummm…… yup. And yes, that *was* something that I had earmarked for myself to do this year. If only to give myself the impetus to get some kind of writing mojo back up and potentially happening again. Or something. Yeh – like I need yet another challenge in my life, Ceridwyn! Yes, I *am* going to go and get my head examined one day – I promise!

So here I am. Cringing at adding anything to this blog while it’s STILL looking nowhere near like I’d like it to (another promise to myself that I’ve yet to keep) but today has just a few hours left in it, and I *know* that #blogJune is something that I really really really really want to do again this year – if only to reassure myself that I *can* do this ‘crazy life’ bit AND fit in a little something for myself at the same time. Cos that’s what #blogJune is to me. Something for me. For Ceridwyn. Not for Hubby, for kids, for job number one or job number two or for uni or for house or friends or ANYTHING else. It’s just for ME. Something that I enjoy. Something that – if only just during this month! – makes me realise that I *can* still have an online life, although circumstances seem to delight in keeping me from it at present. And I can just relax and enjoy that online life that I have. And so yes – my blog looks like crap ATM. And I may (but probably won’t!) get a chance to improve it over the course of June. And so yes – #blogJune has crept up on me without my realising, so I’m behind the 8 ball with zero planning up my sleeve. And so yes, this is the first blog post of what may – what hopefully will! – be thirty of these posts… and I’m excited. I’m actually smiling right now.

Who said that procrastination was a bad thing? The assignment will still be there when I hit ‘publish’. Which I’ll do right after this paragraph, I promise *talks to self*. But at least I’m smiling in anticipation of the next month.

Oh – and that reminds me. I’ll probably need to schedule in some blog reading and commenting time over the next little while. Yay!!!!!

See y’all tomorrow!!!
